About the role
It’s an exciting time to join the People and Culture (P&C) function at NESA. We are in a period of growth, transforming our operating model and service offerings to enable exceptional business outcomes. In addition to enhancing delivery of core operational services and pursuing new enabling technology solutions, the People and Culture team is responsible for designing and delivering an exciting agenda of strategic people priorities and programs.?? 

Reporting to the Manager People Partnering and Wellbeing, the Safety and Wellbeing Lead is responsible for designing and delivering workplace health and safety (WHS) and wellbeing policies, systems, programs and reporting to underpin a safe workplace culture and environment that is compliant with legislative and statutory requirements.

The role actively collaborates with the business to identify workforce challenges and opportunities, promote a focus on safety and wellbeing in all business activities, and offers expert advice, guidance, and reporting to foster continuous improvement, reduce risk, and create a safe working environment.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to:

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and oversight of WHS and wellbeing strategies, frameworks, systems and initiatives that meet regulatory requirements and align with organisational priorities and goals.
  • Design, deliver and monitor the effectiveness of WHS policies, procedures and programs to support continuous improvement in work practices, reduce risk and raise awareness of health and safety issues amongst managers and workers.
  • Provide guidance and advice to support leaders and people managers in meeting their responsibilities related to work health and safety, injury management and workers compensation matters.
  • Contribute to the planning and development of learning initiatives to enhance knowledge and skills in relation to injury prevention and management, risk management and wellbeing.
  • Participate in and contribute to forums and committees and provide support and guidance to various groups to identify and resolve WHS issues and enhance collaboration to minimise risk and promote compliance with regulatory requirements. 

About you
To be successful, you will need:

  • Work Health and Safety qualification and/or relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering WHS systems, processes, programs and reporting to drive a safety culture.
  • Experience in the management and oversight of complex work related and non-work related injuries/illnesses and achieving effective return to work outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully developing and maintaining strong relationships of trust and credibility with stakeholders and advising and influencing WHS culture across all levels of an organisation.
