About the role:

The Breast Service Surgery Research Fellowship is a part time position of up to 0.6eft that will involve clinical research within the Combined RMH/RWH Breast Service.

The position involves new and on-going research projects aimed at improving the management of DCIS and early breast cancer.  The major areas of interest are 1. the use of MRI and Contrast-enhanced mammography in the screening, assessment and surveillance of early breast cancer and 2. optimal management of Ductal Carcinoma In Situ.

The Research Fellow will work under the supervision of the Director of the Breast Service and alongside the Breast Surgery Research Nurse and Data manager.  There will be close collaboration with the Breast imaging service at RMH and the Women’s.

The position would suit a surgical registrar who would like to experience clinical research.  The Fellow will attend at least one weekly breast clinic, various multidisciplinary meetings and will have the chance to participate in some breast surgical operating lists.  Other opportunities will be available.   

About You:

  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
  • MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Well-developed communication and presentation skills.
