Creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally, and globally, James Cook University (JCU) is now looking to appoint a Senior Operations Officer, Laboratories and Technical Support. This is a full-time, continuing opportunity and is based at the JCU Townsville Bebegu Yumba Campus in Douglas.
How you’ll make a difference
Reporting to the Operations Manager of Laboratory abnd Technical support you will manage the delivery of a consistent, quality laboratory and technical support service, optimising synergies across and fostering a culture of collaboration. Supporting Team Leaders in appropriate human resource management and leadership you will be instrumental in building a culture of safety, high performance, teamwork, innovation and engagement.
What you’ll bring
Bringing extensive experience in laboratory management and specialised technical support, coupled with adept management of human, financial, and physical resources, you will exhibit a compassionate leadership style. This approach enables you to effectively guide and mentor individuals towards achieving strategic and operational objectives.
You will also demonstrate:
- Significant knowledge of resources and equipment and the application of WHS laws as they apply to laboratories and research environments, preferably within higher education.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing innovative and creative solutions to deliver efficiencies through improved processes, systems and ways of working.
- High level written and oral communication skills to provide comprehensive written reports and submissions to the external research sector and the ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders.
