Job Description

At City of Stonnington we are dedicated to providing exceptional library services to our community. We are seeking a proactive Library Technician to support our team and maintain our library's technology.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide Operational Support: Assist the libraries team through Help Desk services, ensuring patrons receive top-notch library support.
  • Maintain Technology: Oversee the performance and upkeep of library systems and equipment, swiftly addressing any technical issues to ensure seamless operations.
  • Foster Collaboration: Partner with the IT & Systems Team Leader on various initiatives, working with the Council Technology Enablement team and external vendors as required.
  • Develop Policies: Help in drafting and updating documents, policies, procedures, and training resources related to library technology and advancements.
  • Report on Data: Compile and interpret circulation and collection data to aid in the effective management of library resources.
  • Enhance Customer Service: Provide outstanding service at the circulation desk, ensuring a welcoming and positive experience for all library visitors.

In this role, you’ll work 35 hours per week, including one Saturday each month, and enjoy a rostered day off every two weeks.

We’re thrilled to offer a full-time position with a salary range of $72,704 and $77,133, along with 11.5% superannuation.

  • Interest in technology and attention to detail
  • Diploma in Library and Information Services, Information Management, IT, or a related field, with relevant experience.
  • Proficient with Integrated Library Management Systems and related technologies, including troubleshooting and recommending improvements.
  • Experience in a modern public library with an understanding of its community role.
  • Strong support skills and a positive team contributor.
  • Excellent customer service, multi-tasking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Adaptable in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High-level written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
