Behaviour tools issued
The Australian government has introduced new resources aimed at helping school leaders address classroom behaviour management issues.
The government says that more than 70 per cent of Australian school principals have reported working with teachers on discipline issues on a weekly basis.
The new tools, developed by the Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO), aim to streamline this process.
“By providing these resources to principals and school leaders we can help them to set clear expectations around behaviour across the whole school, which is good for teachers and good for their students,” said Minister for Education Jason Clare.
He also noted the importance of minimising classroom disruptions, emphasising that when students are fully engaged, they learn more effectively, giving teachers more time to teach.
Evidence suggests that a consistent approach to behaviour management can improve student outcomes by promoting positive behaviours and reducing negative ones.
This whole-school strategy is designed not only to support classroom teachers but also to encourage alignment with evidence-based practices across the school.
