Associate Professor, School of Computer Science and Information Technology

The School of Computer Science and Information Technology is one of Australia's largest Schools in its field. With a strong emphasis on both theory and practice, the teaching and research programs make significant contributions in the fields of: software engineering and architecture; information retrieval; database systems; graphics; computer games; artificial intelligence; data communications and networks; cloud and service computing.
Reporting to the Head of School, as the successful candidate you will be responsible for academic leadership, teaching and research, which may also include program administration.
Applicants will have proven academic and research achievements in the designated field, with publications in reputable high impact journals recognised by the international research community. A proven ability to attract competitive research grants, develop strategic partnerships with industry and relevant Government agencies and build and manage effective research teams is essential.
Key responsibilities will include the identification and development of potential research projects; preparation of applications for industry and government grants; supervision and mentoring of postgraduate research students, assisting and supporting the research activities of staff; and helping to maintain and leverage for research purposes important links between the School and its business and industry partners.
The position requires the successful candidate to have a proven record of leading a group of Research active academics in the delivery of research output & outcomes.
As the successful candidate you will have demonstrated leadership skills, with strong academic and research credentials as well as experience in tertiary teaching, design and development of courses/programs. A PhD or recognised equivalent Doctoral qualification in a discipline area relevant to Computing is essential.
