About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor to leverage their established record of achievement and demonstrate excellence in teaching, research and service and engagement.
We are particularly interested in candidates that appreciate the need for interdisciplinary perspectives to understand, analyse, and solve complex environmental problems. We seek candidates with profiles that can complement our School’s areas of teaching and research expertise. Examples include, but are not limited to, climate change and energy transitions, environmental policy and law, environmental economics, sustainable development, and/or environmental impact assessment.
The successful candidate for this role will assume the leadership and coordination of the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate teaching program in Environmental Management. The program coordinator contributes to strategic planning, curriculum development and renewal, as well as developing high level industry liaisons and engagement with external professionals in the field. We are also interested in candidates who have skills in bringing people together from diverse disciplines, to ensure an ongoing vibrant environmental management program. Key responsibilities will include:
- Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules.
- Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
- Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
- Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You
Applicants should possess a PhD in a field relevant to environmental management. Additionally, you will demonstrate:
Level C Senior Lecturer
- An established profile in teaching and research in environmental management.
- National recognition in your area of expertise, with a developing research profile internationally and an established record of high-quality publications.
- A strong record of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.
- Evidence of high-quality, effective teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.
- A strong track record of course coordination and participation in the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.
- A solid record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
- A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with a strong contribution to external service activities.
- Ability to successfully lead a research team.
Level D Associate Professor
- An established profile in teaching and research in environmental management.
- National and international recognition in your area of expertise, with a strong record of high-quality publications, and other evidence of peer esteem
- An ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the discipline area at a university and wider community level, including with industry, government and professional bodies.
- A strong record of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding including large competitive grants.
- Evidence of high-quality, effective teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.
- An excellent track record of course coordination and participation in the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.
- A strong record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
- A record of significant internal service roles in conjunction with a strong contribution to external service activities
- Ability to successfully lead a research team, deliver tangible outputs to industry, and mentor less-experienced staff and early career academics.

About the Selection Process
Please note that research seminars and teaching demonstrations may be scheduled for Tuesday 18 March; Wednesday 19 March; and Thursday 20 March and interviews for Friday 21 March 2025 with the shortlisted candidates.
As part of the Selection Process, applicants shortlisted for interview will be required to present a research seminar and a teaching demonstration to members of the school community prior to their scheduled interview. Expected research seminar format and teaching demonstration topics will be provided with adequate notice to shortlisted candidates. The research seminar will be for 30 minutes plus 5-10 minutes of questions. The teaching demonstration will be for approximately 25 minutes plus 5-10 minutes of questions.
