About BUSY Education...

BUSY Education is the division which encompasses all school/education ventures at The BUSY Group. The BUSY Group is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers a range of employment services, apprenticeship support and vocational skills training across Australia.

BUSY Education was founded with the creation of The BUSY School, a co-educational Queensland special assistance school approved by the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board under the Education (Accreditation of Non-State Schools) Act 2017. The BUSY School was founded in 2019 with the first campus (Cairns) opening in 2020. Since then, the campus network has grown to nine campuses, over 1,300 students and approximately 180 employees.

A bit about the role…

The Executive General Manager will lead strategic growth and operational leadership across an existing and expanding education network. Following the success of The BUSY School, the BUSY Education division will continue to pursue further education opportunities including interstate expansion of The BUSY School model, variations of independent non-government schooling, new models of education delivery, and establishment of international education ventures. This role is responsible for considerable budget and resource management, including commercial viability of new opportunities. It will also provide effective, dynamic and inspirational leadership and promote a culture of encouragement, support and guidance to ensure every young person is able to fulfil their true potential.   

You will work closely with the Group CEO on quality, sustainability, growth, and leadership. This role has significant strategic and operational oversight and considerable stakeholder engagement including working closely with, and leveraging the expertise of, a variety of The BUSY Group’s corporate services.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Futures oriented and strategic;
  • Executive level educational leadership experience and proven executive level experience in a complex, fast paced operating environment, preferably in multi-site/campus operations;
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial literacy - experience with financial management, reporting and analysis;
  • Detailed understanding of education funding models;
  • An understanding or ability to understand educational policy/legislation, regulation and accreditation standards/frameworks;
  • An understanding of the alternative/flexi schooling sector, vocational pathways, alternate learning programs and blended education models;
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and delivering high performing teams.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication;
  • The ability to analyse problems, adopt an effective course of action, and be responsible for those decisions;
