About the Role
The dynamic team of Swinburne's prestigious Moondani Toombadool Centre (MTC) is seeking a dedicated Research Assistant to play a crucial role in shaping the Swinburne Indigenous Research Strategy and to engage in impactful research projects.

You will have the opportunity to conduct high-level literature and data searches, analyse materials for reports, draft documents, contribute to grant funding applications and develop research matrices as well as assist in collaborations between community, the University, and industry consultations.

To join us in making a difference through groundbreaking research and innovation you’ll have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field, a strong research background, and a proven track record of publications. You will also have demonstrated experience and engagement with Indigenous communities in their research and/or work. 

This is a Targeted position and an affirmative measure therefore only open to applicants of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage in accordance with an exemption granted under section 12 of the Vic – Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Therefore, we will only consider applications from suitably qualified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates for this position.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience and engagement with Indigenous communities in their research and/or work
  • Demonstrated experience in the conduct of research including the collection, collation, management, analysis, and reporting of data
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to support client and cultural relations and balance competing project priorities.
  • Demonstrated skills in research design and qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods.
  • Demonstrated experience collecting empirical data.
  • High level academic writing skills, including ability to co-author academic publications.

Qualifications

  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
