Echocardiography is an essential clinical tool for any critical care practitioner.
Vital questions that echocardiography can help you to answer include:
Why is my patient hypotensive – Is there evidence of cardiac tamponade or ischaemia?
Why can’t I wean my patient off the ventilator - Is cardiac dysfunction contributing?
What’s the volume status - Is my patient still underfilled?
The Alfred ICU runs a two day course on critical care echocardiography limited to 20 participants. The emphasis is on:
Practical (TTE) echo skills acquisition – 2:1 participant: instructor ratio
Interpreting echo data in the context of critical care scenarios
Developing reporting skills. Assisting preparation for formal echocardiography qualifications.
The teaching faculty comprises echocardiography-trained critical care consultants. Our aim is for you to gain practical echocardiography knowledge and skills that you can immediately apply to your patients. This course is a vital step towards you achieving confidence and competence in critical care echocardiography.
A participation certificate will be issued at the course for all delegates who successfully complete the course requirements of two day attendance.
