WA announces capital loans for private schools
The Western Australian Government has announced $255 million in loans to be shared by 17 new private school capital works projects.
State Education Minister, Peter Collier, said the funding forms part of the State Government’s Low Interesting Loan Scheme.
“This scheme enables private schools to undertake a range of building, construction and refurbishment projects, including acquisition of land on to build new schools,” Mr Collier said.
In the 2013 round, 22 private schools applied for access to the $25million annual loan pool. Approval was granted to eight Catholic school projects totalling $15million and nine Independent school projects to the value of $10million.
Projects to receive funding in the latest round of approvals include a new early learning centre at Holy Cross College in Ellenbrook; and a loan to Port School, one of 10 specialised Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education (CARE) schools in the State.
