Trade Training Centre opened at Bendigo
The Victorian Government has opened a $10 million Trade Training Centre in Bendigo, aimed at providing trade training to over 4000 students .
The new centre is based at Bendigo Senior Secondary College, with further facilities at Catholic College Bendigo and the Bendigo Regional Institute of TAFE.
The Bendigo Trade Training Centre received more than $10 million from the Australian Government’s $2.5 billion, 10 year Trade Training Centres in Schools Program to enable all secondary students to access vocational education.
The centre will deliver training in mechanical and electrical engineering, furniture making, plumbing, hospitality and agriculture.
Construction included a new specialist hospitality centre, refurbishment of a woodwork and engineering area, new classrooms and diagnostic laboratories.
The 2011-12 Budget includes new funding to give students access to vocational training through the National Trade Cadetships Scheme, which will begin in 2012.
