Students are working on a range of exciting and mildly concerning robots, many of which have been on show in Europe.

Among the attractions (and repulsions) of Rome’s Maker Faire 2014 was a robotic insect with a number of intriguing design points.

University of Arizona PhD student Matt Bunting has been showing off his robotic hexapod, built as part of investigation into linking computer vision and locomotion.

The six-legged robot is powered by Intel Edison equipment - a small, low energy, computer designed for use in DIY robotics, wearable electronics and other such projects.
