South Australian universities showcase research
Researchers from the University of Adelaide, Flinders University and the University of South Australia will showcase their research at the first OpportUNIty S.A. Innovation Showcase.
The showcase aims to provide attendees with an overview the latest in research thinking, and to encourage commercial partners to explore potential collaborative possibilities with the Universities.
The three universities will demonstrate their research, which focuses on innovative business solutions, specifically in the areas of Health, CleanTech, Engineering, Mining, Defence and ICT.
The research will be displayed by the following industry experts:
- Mr Raymond Spencer, newly appointed Chair of SAHMRI, will introduce the Health session on the day, and enlighten us on South Australia’s unique position to provide the perfect environment for collaborative research ventures such as large cohorts, data collection, analysis and clinical trials for health and medical research.
- Mr Andrew Pickering, Managing Director, Cleantech Ventures will launch the Cleantech session. Cleantech is very topical at the moment, with the South Australian Government having conceded in the 2011 Strategic Plan that “South Australia is well positioned to take positive action to ensure environmental sustainability”.
- The Mining, Engineering and Defence session will be introduced by Mr Wayne Stange, CEO, AMIRA International, while the ICT session will be introduced by Mr Alan Noble, Engineering Director, Google ANZ. South Australia’s track record in defence and aerospace has given the State a powerful platform for innovation and expansion in ICT and electronics. South Australia’s ICT sector is one of the State’s niche growth industries, providing innovative products and services to global customers.
- Event organiser, Melissa Geue encouraged business partners to “come along to OpportUNIty S.A. Innovation Showcase 2011, and learn more about the roadmap for South Australia’s R&D future”.
