PM's performance prompts call for clarity in Gonski figures
A recent Parliamentary Question Time provided a platform for Julia Gillard to spruik new Gonski sign-ons, but experts are still unclear on just how much schools are set to receive.
The Prime Minister centred her spiel on education, buoyed by the news last Friday that South Australia will join the Northern Territory and New South Wales in signing up to the Gonski education reforms. Analysts in today’s Australian Financial Review question conflicting figures from the Government, wondering what claims by Peter Garret of a $2.8 billion payout to WA would actually mean.
AFR Analysts have created a number of graphs comparing proposed spending with previous promises and actual budget figures, but without more concrete numbers from the Government they can still only speculate the size of the education spend.
