The NSW Deputy Leader of The Nationals, Adrian Piccoli, has been appointed Minister for Education in the state’s new coalition Cabinet.

 

Mr Piccoli joined The Nationals the year after he graduated from the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Law in 1993. He was elected into Parliament as the Member for Murrumbidgee on 27 March 1999 and has held the position of Deputy Leader of The National since 2008.

 

Other roles have included Shadow Ministerial portfolios of Mineral Resources, Lands and Natural Resources, Shadow Minister Assisting the Leader for Natural Resources (Forests) and Ethnic Affairs, Shadow Minister for Water, State and Regional Development, Shadow Leader of the House and Shadow Education, Skills and Youth Affairs Minister.

 

The director-general of education, Michael Coutts-Trotter, who is married to the federal Labor Minister for Human Services and Social Inclusion, Tanya Plibersek, has been moved the head up the new department of Department of Finance and Services. His former position is to be advertised.
