Government awards distance learning services contract
The Federal Government has awarded AMEP Flexible Learning Network (AMEP FLN) the first contract to deliver distance/e-learning English language services for the Adult Migrant Learning Program (AMLP).
The network, which is a consortium of AMES Victoria, Navitas English, Charles Darwin University, DeakinPrime and Australia Network, was selected after a ‘rigorous evaluation process’ which included considering technical merit, relative risk, price, and financial viability of each tenderer.
The AMEP FLN will begin providing distance/e-learning services to clients from July 1 with contracts expiring on 30 June 2014. In addition, the AMEP FLN will develop e-learning materials and other resources for use by AMEP clients.
“The distance/e-learning contract seeks to provide greater consistency of tuition for distance learning clients throughout Australia through a single national provider,” a DIAC spokesman said.
“The network will develop a contemporary delivery platform through the introduction of an e-learning option for distance learning clients as well as an e-learning package to support learning for all AMEP clients throughout Australia.”
About 50 000 clients from 193 countries use AMEP services each year, with 10 per cent being AMEP distance learning clients.
