Government appoints new ACARA boss
The Federal Government has announced the appointment of Robert Randall as the new head of the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).
Federal School Education Minister, Peter Garrett, congratulated Mr Randall on his appointment to Chief Executive Officer, after acting in the role for several months.
“Mr Randall has significant experience and success in curriculum and assessment projects from design through to implementation, at both state and national levels,” Mr Garrett said.
“His most recent achievement has been to lead the development of the F–10 Australian Curriculum in English, mathematics, science and history which are at various stages of successful implementation across the states and territories.
“As CEO Mr Randall will play a vital role in the national school education sector.”
Mr Randall began his career as a maths teacher in Perth and held a range of positions within schools in Western Australia, before moving into the Education Department.
He joined ACARA in 2009 and has worked as General Manager, Curriculum, and Deputy CEO, before his appointment as CEO.
