The University of Wollongong has announced the speaker list for its 11th Educational Leadership Conference.

To be held on 24 February, the conference is being organised by the university’s Australian Centre for Educational Leadership (ACEL).

Speakers include NSW Deputy Director-General of Education (Schools) Greg Prior and NSW Department of Education and Communities Illawarra, South West Regional Director Maria Gray-Spence, Professor Patrick Duignan from the Australian Catholic University and UOW’s Australian Institute for Business Wellbeing Director Dr Lindsay Oades.

ACEL Director and conference organiser Dr Narottam Bhindi said: “After more than a decade, the conference is firmly established as an important forum for education professionals to assess changes taking place in education nationally and internationally, and the practical implications for school leaders and teachers.”

Dr Bhindi said this year’s conference them is: Evidence-based Leadership: Reading the Sign Posts.

“Recent shifts in educational policies have increased professional and managerial accountabilities and raised public scrutiny of education,” Dr Bhindi said. “These changes have direct or indirect implications for school leadership, teacher development and professionalism, for quality teaching and learning, and better student outcomes.

The conference is being sponsored by the University of Wollongong, NSW Department of Education and Communities and the Catholic Education Office in the Diocese of Wollongong.
