Award plugs uni's international influence
An Australian university has been awarded for the successful employment of innovative techniques in education.
The Victorian-based school was recognised at the Australian Export Awards overnight, hosted by Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
Monash University received the national Education and Training Award, which recognises outstanding contributions to international education. The university was singled-out for its exceptional leadership in the field through training services, expert staff and curriculum innovation.
“It is with much honour that we receive this award. While acknowledging the quality of Australia’s higher education sector, there is a need to have greater impact in-country through a mixture of physical research and education presence and deeper networks,” Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement) Professor Abid Khan said.
Monash University has six local campuses throughout the state of Victoria, as well as two international campuses – Malaysia and South Africa - and international centres in the People’s Republic of China, Italy and India. A unique alliance with the University of Warwick (UK) sits alongside an array of international collaborations with leading universities and corporations around the world, expanding the University’s global network.
