Australia-China recognition of qualifications renewed
The Australia-China Arrangement on Higher Education Qualifications Recognition has been renewed at a ceremony attended by the Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Mr Jia Qinglin, at Parliament House.
The Arrangement on Higher Education Qualifications Recognition supports greater student, academic and professional mobility between China and Australia, and enhances links between Australian and Chinese universities.
Chinese students comprise almost 40 per cent of Australia’s international student population, representing the largest group of international students enrolled in Australian institutions.
In 2010 there were more than 167,000 enrolments of Chinese students in Australian education institutions, making Australia one of the most popular destinations for Chinese students studying abroad.
