About the Role:

In this role, you will lead the ICT Infrastructure Services team in alignment with the Digital Strategy, ICT Asset Strategy, and allocated budgets. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality ICT and digital services to students, staff, and other users, while continually improving technology services, infrastructure, and operations to maintain robust platforms that meet the current and future needs of Melbourne Polytechnic. You will provide authoritative and up-to-date advice on ICT operations and infrastructure to the Director DTE/CIO and peers within DTE. Additionally, you will contribute effectively to the development of the Digital Strategy, ICT Asset Strategy, and related policies, as well as to the overall corporate management of Melbourne Polytechnic.

Duties:

  • Manage the provision of ICT Infrastructure Services across Melbourne Polytechnic utilising in-house and external  resources.
  • Plan and oversee the delivery of new initiatives by ensuring that appropriate resources are available to assist and infrastructure is provisioned.
  • Ensure adherence to ITIL Change Management practices within ICT across all change, and actively participate in technical and CAB meetings engendering a change management culture and continual improvement.
  • Manage the ICT Infrastructure Services budgeting, staffing and planning, ensuring output is maximized within available resources and that prescribed service standards are met.
  • Technical knowledge, experience and skills to provide hands-on support to team members on a day to day basis in managing the workload.
  • Establish ICT Infrastructure Services metrics and report to the Director DTE/CIO on performance within the agreed service standards and performance metrics.
  • Develop and maintain Enterprise Architecture artefacts covering Security, Data Centres, Networks, Cloud Computing and Platforms.

Skills and Experience Required: 

  • Undergraduate or post-graduate qualifications in a related area such as Information Technology or Computer Science, together with Professional Certifications (Microsoft, Virtualisation technologies, Cloud Computing) and extensive work experience (15 years plus) in a large and complex organisation leading the portfolio of work associated with ICT Infrastructure Services and Architecture.
  • Broad technical knowledge and experience in enterprise networks, data centres, ICT Infrastructure including Microsoft Server Technologies, Audio Visual technology, ICT Security and associated systems including Solarwinds, Microsoft O365, SCCM, Intune, JAMF Pro and Technical Architectures and best practices.
  • Experience in the development of hardware standards, specifically Audio-Visual Infrastructure, ensuring standards are adequately, designed, documents are fit for purpose, cost effective and aligned to teaching and learning standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to a team, creating an inclusive and positive team culture, with experience in line management, time management and ability to prioritise tasks at short notice, resource management, coaching, technical training, development plans, mentoring and staff development.
  • Proven experience operating  within the ITIL framework within a large enterprise environment, and obtainment of ITIL Foundation Certificate, along with demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience of the ITIL service management framework, specifically Incident Management, Problem Management and Change Management.
    Microsoft certification preferably in Azure cloud, System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM), MS Intune and Windows OS based systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets and operational plans and to drive procurement activities such as EOI’s, RFQ’s and RFT’s and associated evaluation processes for ICT infrastructure and systems.
