  • Full-time: 36.25 hours per week
  • Continuing appointment
  • Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus
  • Hybrid work model between office and home (successful candidate must be based in Townsville or willing to relocate before commencement)
  • HEWL 8: $105,790 - $121,481 per annum plus up to 17% superannuation.


ABOUT THE ROLE

Your contributions will make a real impact as you enable effective decision making and ensure the University’s continued financial success. As a key member of our financial management team, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering professional, strategic, and financial management services to support budgeting and forecasting processes. You'll develop realistic financial projections aligned with our strategic goals and priorities, mitigating operational finance-related risks through comprehensive financial models and business cases. Your expertise will shine as you identify opportunities for continuous improvement, implementing practical financial management tools, enhancing policies and procedures and strengthening business intelligence systems. Contributing to the development and maintenance of key financial performance metrics, your insights will be vital in interpreting and communicating results to stakeholders. With a proactive approach, you’ll analyse, interpret and report financial results against performance targets.


QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

A skilled professional with an accounting background, you’re looking to leverage your expertise to provide financial oversight. With qualifications in business, accounting, or a related field, you’ve also completed your CA/CPA. You bring contemporary knowledge in accounting standards and a background in financial analysis. Proven capabilities in financial evaluation and modeling, and a demonstrated ability to anticipate the information needs of management, identify key issues, evaluate outcomes and provide relevant and value-adding advice and analysis will be essential to your success. Your exceptional organisational, problem-solving and administrative skills will enable you to prioritise and meet competing deadlines while exercising judgement and initiative. As an excellent communicator, you bring a proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, as you negotiate, consult and liaise with staff at all levels of the University and external parties.


ABOUT THE FINANCIAL AND BUSINESS SERVICES DIRECTORATE

The Financial and Business Services Directorate is responsible for a diverse range of the University’s financial functions and business services, including: strategic financial and budgeting advice; business case development and review; Management accounting; Treasury management; budgeting; procurement, accounts payable and corporate credit cards; accounts receivable; cashiering/banking; taxation; assets; insurance; financial systems management; and other statutory compliance obligations and responsibilities. We are receptive to new ideas and suggestions for ways in which we can enhance our delivery of services to the University.
